Our People

David Wenban

David has formal clinical, management and legal qualifications which have seen him in various professional roles such as the CEO of a small rural health service, an Executive and Corporate Counsel of a large Metropolitan Health Service, and a legal and management consultant throughout Australia.

As a lawyer, David commenced practice 10 years ago predominantly in Health and Community Services where he specialises in employment and industrial relations law. He is well known for his understanding of the industry’s intricacies and his ability to deliver concise and pragmatic advice about most issues.

David is the director of nine different commercial companies in industries including IT, financial services and the motor vehicle industry and is the Managing Director of two commercial companies, including one that owns a number of medical clinics.

David’s private interests revolve around golf, red wine, travelling, the Essendon Football Club and his three teenage children’s sporting activities (including his recent questionable decision to come out of retirement and play cricket with his son…)

Michael Rogers

Michael’s diverse management career has included roles as Chief Executive Officer of a number of Victorian Health Services and Manager Support Services for Rural Workforce Agency, Victoria.

He has qualifications in accounting and management and manages our medical clinics, recruitment unit and medical consulting support team.

Michael’s knowledge of accounting and management, combined with more than more than twenty years’ experience in the health sector, allows him to readily provide our clients with practical solutions.

Mel Bates

Melissa has in excess of 16 years experience in payroll processing. In that time Melissa has worked and overseen the development of payroll processing from paper and calculator to one touch, cloud based dedicated payroll processing systems. 

Melissa has worked within small business and international payroll departments, Melissa has worked for AHIG for 8 years as a payroll officer and now our payroll team leader. She is well versed in award interpretation, expense claims and taxation calculations.

Melissa has been responsible for payroll processing of monthly, fortnightly and weekly pay runs for multiple employer groups.
Melissa provides support and advice to our internal staff regarding processing requirements and our external employers regarding reporting and deadlines.
Melissa provides advice to employees by answering queries on timesheets and pay slips.

Outside of work hours Melissa continues has a passion for online gaming of quest games and war apps.
In her quiet time, she is an avid reader all fiction genre.

Cuong Nguyen

Cuong commenced his career with the Australian Health Industry Group (AHIG) with a short stint in both the Customer Service Team and Payroll Department, later moving through as a Client Relationship Manager and now as the Group Accountant.

With a Bachelor of Professional Accountancy from RMIT and on the way to becoming a fully qualified CPA, Cuong has a comprehensive understanding of Finance, Payroll processes and Taxation, in specific Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) and its complexities. With experience, he has been able to build strong interpersonal skills through continuous executive meetings, planning and providing employee presentations as well as delivering thorough one on one consultations. Other expertise includes FBT reporting, tax planning, compliance and account management.

Cuong takes pride in applying his skill set to the AHIG, a leading provider of legal and management expertise to a diverse range of clients.
